Conveniently, on Frends Day, my best friend from Canada came down to spend a little time with me on her way down to Portland. What I thought was just going to be brunch and a little chit chat turned into a few hours of super fun memories. Caitlin and I met 4yrs ago when we both first moved to Mammoth – we instantly became best friends and the whole town thought we were sisters. Anyways, I’d searched around online this morning for someplace to have brunch. I came across this place on Yelp.com called Sweet Iron Waffle. Read some reviews and my tummy was rumbling. When I got there, I was a little surprised at how small it was but found a two seater no problem. Caitlin arrived not three mins after me and we ordered. Instantly I saw “Bacon Waffle – savory maple syrup”. Done. Sold.

Caitlin ordered something with spinach and cheese – didn’t sound good so I paid no attention HA.

After food and a bit of gossip, Caitlin had remembered a shop she wanted to go by so we left and headed out. Well, she remembered what she wanted from the shop, a certain bowl, but she couldn’t remember exactly where the shop was. We walked around a bit trying to find it and decided to just go to the gum wall instead and make a little donation.

On our way to the gum wall we were stopped by one of the fish market guys who had us try some salmon…SO good. We had two kinds of smoked salmon and then some salmon jerkey – delicious. I snapped a few photos and asked him to give me something to film. He replied, “how about some coffee on ice with cream not sweetened”. Caitlin and I laughed and said, “DEAL!”. We needed to buy gum for the gum wall anyways, so we went to the Starbucks aross the street, got our things and headed back.

We kept our end of the deal and so did he.

A little bit got on my blouse in the cleavage region – they were ever so eager to help me get clean.

October 10, 2010 – Frends Day in honor of them launching their new headphones has gone from what I thought would be another slightly uneventful Sunday into probably one of the best days I’ve had with a Friend in a long time.

So go out, grabs your buds and make some memories on the first official FRENDS DAY!

This saturday up at Big Bear Mtn.

This event marks the semi-beginning of the So.Cal season. A Pre-Season Reunion if you will. Everyone from every mtn. comes down to get a quick fix of what we’ve all been itchin for all summer.

Since I know you hate your summer job and spending the weekends watching food network with your mom – head up to Big Bear for some free stuff, food, friends and summer shred  - how could you say no?

I’ll be there – reason enough.

UP NEXT: SEATTLE

Booked my ticket back to this awesome city last night. I’m thinking that an annual trip will now have to happen. I love this place and all my friends and family that reside here. If some how Seattle could have slighty warmer summers, southern cali beaches, and less wet winters…it would be a pretty close runner up to heaven. Mammoth currently holds runner up position.

I’ll hopefully be able to make some money on this month long trip instead of just blowing it all on ice tea and snickerdoodles.

Hopefully i can catch whatever premiers are left for pre season showings and get some content on the site. If you’re in the seattle area and have anything you’d like to share and possibly get on the site – feel free to hit me up:)

Instead of going to Europe, i’ve managed to give myself a lil beach vacay for a week and a half for free. How? you might ask? it’s called making friends in sweet ass places. aka. friends that don’t live in their parents basement and live off Totino’s Pizza Rolls.

well, with one exception, Shawn. She’s a fellow instructor from mammoth who lives literally a jump, skip , and a hop away from the beach…at her parents house… but since the house is like a fancy Dana Point beachside bed and breakfast and her Mom cooks us fucking steaks, roasts and everything else you could want in a hearty dinner – she is not considered lame. infact, since i get my own room, tv, and awesome view? She is considered awesome. I’ve spent the last week with her. meeting her awesome and hot lifeguard friends and burning my ass falling asleep on the beach. thank you Shawn.

Not wanting to wear out my welcome with her parents, they love me cuz i clean out all their leftovers in the fridge. I’ve since ventured north to Newport. Tyson, another fellow seasonal Mammoth kid, lives amazingly closer to the beach. Shawn had a 3 min walk. “how do you live closer?!” you might ask. well, I can see the waves and walk to the sand with my eyes closed and pretty much not get lost. I could prolly throw a rock and hit the sand. I’ll be here for a few days.

Sadly, I feel my beach time this summer will be remarkably cut short due to the fact that I wil not be living here this summer. duh. and also to the fact that i still do not have a car, i’m getting shit for money from unemployment, and i actually have to get a job to keep my sanity while living back at home for the 3-4 months of summer i have.

Theres been talk of going back up to seattle for the month of October, which would be fuckin sweet. but i’ve also been looking for flights to germany for the whole month of October. Being that Seattle is undoubtably more affordable – thats prolly where ill end up spending my halloween once again. and if so, my only question is…what will i be this year? i’m thinking unicorn…

OH! AND THE 4TH OF FUCKING JULY!

I got the chance to catch Black Winter by Standard Films on Friday at the King Cat Theater in Seattle. The film was good, but the venue was not really prepared for the sold out crowd unless you are into being crammed like sardines into a tin can. Throw in booze and Red Bull to complete the whole fiasco and you will begin to get an idea of what they were calling a “lobby.”

As far for the video, right from the intro it made you feel like you were about to call the first drop of the season. They opened with Torstenin Horgmo and Andreas Wiig who both had epic parts and enders came courtesy of Eric Jackson and Mark Landvick. To round out the whole thing were parts from Chas Guldemond, Leanne Pelosi, and Lonnie Kauk as well as some solid offerings from newer riders like Jason Dubois, Halldor Hellgasson, and Seb Toots. Also special shout out to Seb for deciding to rock a helmet in a major video part. Which is something you don’t see nearly enough of.

Overall, I’d have to rate Horgmo and Wiig’s parts as the crem de la crem of the whole thing. Both of them are just too good at snowboarding not to mention they probably had the best song picks of the whole video.

The heli shots, soundtrack, and rider commentary were all on point and the video was on par with what you have probably come to expect from Standard.
